While studio apartment is considered more short-term places to live, if you’re planning to stay in one for the foreseeable future, practicing space-saving tips, and decorating the space for maximum comfort is extremely important.

Living in a limited space does not mean that you have to let go of the luxuries; it is about making enough room for the spaces that are most needed for you and reducing the amenities that you don’t necessarily use every day. Knowing which aspects of a home are most important to you. There you’d mostly spend your time will be good when you are decorating the apartment.

    Bookshelves as dividers

Shelved cupboards act as dividers and as storage units; they could be the ideal separator between your sleeping/bedroom area and sitting area. The best part of shelved cupboards is that it offers cross ventilation too! Having a mix of closed and open shelves. It will allow you to have plants on the shelves and everyday personal items on closed shelves. If the shelves are big enough. You can also include your flat-screen TV that can be rotated to fit your bedroom area and the sitting area.

    Comfortable Pieces

Even if it is a compact space, you can always include one or two comfortable pieces of furniture; it should ideally be the place where you spend the most time in your apartment. If the apartment has enough room for a king-sized bed, investing in one for maximum comfort is most definitely something one can consider.

Once you’ve covered it up with a super king quilt cover and added some throw pillows, it won’t look like it has taken a lot of space. A convertible couch is usually the go-to for many studio apartments. Investing in one would definitely not go to waste if your space is way too small.

    Multifunctional Furniture

Flexible furniture is something studio apartment owners swear by when decorating one. You can never get too much storage space when living in a small space. Therefore when purchasing furniture, buy beds with additional shelves on the bedhead, drawers underneath the bed, tables with additional shelves, sofa beds, retractable work tables/tops, and dining tables. Those can add a significant value to the entire look and feel of the apartment – and not to mention, help reduce unnecessary clutter too!

    Colour Palette

Choosing neutral colors towards white for all furniture and décor will ensure that the apartment will look significantly bigger than it is. Having one or two splashes of bright colors will add the spark of energy you need for your space.

While painting your walls a bold color might be your choice. It is advisable to go with pastel, light colors as it will make your space less small. Claustrophobic as light bounces and reflects off lighter colors, whereas it is the opposite for dark and broody colors.

Decorating a studio apartment might be frustrating at first as you may not be able to include everything your heart desires due to space constraints. However, if you’re able to find the right mix of furniture, décor, and color palette, you can make your space look as good as can be!
