Windows 11 is a new version of Windows that focuses on making the PC more user friendly. It is packed with many new features that make your PC easier to use. From Snap Layouts and Snap Groups to Virtual desktops and DirectX 12 Ultimate, you’ll love the new features included in this version.
Snap Layouts
When you have a lot of windows or open applications, you might want to use Snap Layouts in Windows 11. The new feature allows you to easily reorganize the way your windows look. It allows you to view multiple apps at once and minimize unused space. You can also use Snap Layouts to organize windows in different workspaces.
One problem with Snap Layouts in Windows is that you cannot enable them in the Settings app. However, you can enable them in the Windows Registry Editor. To open the Registry Editor, open the directory on the right and use the address bar. In the registry editor, create a new value named ‘EnableSnapAssistFlyout’. Then, set its value data to ‘1’.
Snap Groups
The new Windows 11 operating system features a new way to group applications and windows. The feature is called Snap Groups and it allows you to organize multiple apps into groups. These groups can be maximized and minimized easily. When you’re done using a group, you can click its thumbnail to restore it to its previous configuration.
Snap Groups and Layouts are enabled by default in Windows 11, but you can also disable them. To disable them, go to the System multitasking settings.
Virtual desktops
Windows 11 allows you to switch between virtual desktops easily. To access the different desktops, you must first enable Task View. The Task View button is available on the Windows taskbar. You can use the mouse to select the virtual desktop you want to use, or you can also use a keyboard shortcut. The keyboard shortcut is Win + TAB. You can use it to switch to the left or right desktop.
Once you’ve enabled virtual desktops, you can choose the way they behave. You can change how each desktop behaves by changing the multitasking settings. For example, if you want to see notifications and apps on all your desktops, you can change the display of the taskbar to the right. You can also set up keyboard shortcuts that will switch between desktops automatically.
DirectX 12 Ultimate
DirectX 12 Ultimate provides visual graphics that rival those found in movies, and significantly improves framerates. It also enhances overall performance through quick processing and response time. The latest version of DirectX also works with Windows 10’s Xbox Game Bar. When used together with other Microsoft products, this software enables the user to experience the ultimate gaming experience.
DirectX is pre-installed on most Windows PCs and gets updated with Windows updates. It is a graphics API that provides a common interface to access the advanced features of a graphics card. It overcomes the limitations of Windows’ GDI graphics interface by using the Hardware Emulation Layer (HEL) to emulate graphics functions that are not built into the graphics card.
DirectStorage
Microsoft has released DirectStorage for Windows 11, a new storage API that is built into the Windows 11 coding. This will allow developers to create bigger game worlds and increase the loading speed of games. In order to take advantage of this new feature, you’ll need at least a 1TB NVMe SSD and a DirectX12 GPU with Shader Model 6.0.
DirectStorage for Windows 11 enables game developers to create games with faster loading times and improved graphics. Microsoft has devoted a lot of effort to game development with Windows 11 and DirectStorage will help game developers to optimize their games for Windows 11.
Auto HDR
Windows 11 Auto HDR is an optional setting you can turn on or off. This feature is useful if you play games that support HDR. However, it may be difficult to switch on if you don’t own a HDR-compatible game. The settings are available under the Settings tab. You can also toggle the setting by pressing the Windows key and pressing Alt+B. When you enable Auto HDR, your screen will appear with brighter colors.
If you don’t like auto HDR notifications, you can simply turn them off. You can find this option in Windows Settings, under Notifications. You can also change whether notifications are shown as banners or not. The latest Windows Insider program builds include the ability to turn Auto HDR off completely.
